The Aylesford women’s football team with a trophy in 1928, outside the pavillion of Aylesford Athletic Club. H.L.C. Brassey donated some land east of the village for the club and erected the pavilion in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. This pavilion was demolished after 1972.

A rare photograph of AFC 1970-71 team, extracted from the Cup Final programme of the Maidstone & District Primary League. Firstly this confirms the age of AFC as a youth side, secondly it shows a huge variation of ages in the same team
in those days, and finally shows how teams were sometimes kitted out before the days of mass sponsorship!
